The Missouri Highways and Transportation (MoDOT) in the US has awarded a $62.7m contract to Chicago-based Walsh Construction to repair the Blanchette Bridge over the Missouri River in suburban St. Louis.

The scope of work includes the replacing the truss sections of the bridge and the entire driving surface of the five-lane bridge.

The bridge on Interstate 70 was built in 1958 and carries westbound traffic from St. Louis County into St. Charles County.

The work is expected to start by January next year and be complete by April 2014.
