The Wyoming Department of Transportation (DOT) in the US has installed 19 new, walk-in LED dynamic message signs (DMS) on the I-90 corridor in a bid to upgrade and expand its intelligent transport system (ITS) and improve traffic flow.

Skyline Products has signed an agreement with electrical contracting company Casper Electric on behalf of Wyoming DOT to provide the signs.

As part of the contract, Skyline provided the new walk-in signs that cover areas of the I-90 corridor, which will help to upgrade their ITS system and improve traffic flow.

"With our unmatched reliability and readability, Skyline is a great choice to keep Wyoming’s motorist informed of traffic conditions."

As part of a statewide ITS expansion and upgrade, Wyoming DOT installed the DMS along the northern and eastern part of the I-90 corridor.

Following the addition of the signs in the corridor, Wyoming DOT is able to better relay important traffic messages to motorists so as to maintain efficient traffic flow.

Skyline Products president and CEO Chip Stadjuhar said: "With our unmatched reliability and readability, Skyline is a great choice to keep Wyoming’s motorist informed of traffic conditions."

The company’s walk-in LED DMS are said to be suitable for freeways, expressways, highways, tollways and HOV/HOT lanes.

Designed for overhead or roadside mounting, they offer flexibility for communicating critical advisories to motorists travelling at high-speeds.

Skyline has been manufacturing ITS-grade DMS since 1971 and ITS-grade LED DMS signs since 1994, and currently has more than 3,000 ITS-grade DMS installations across North America.
