Roy Jorgensen Associates has chosen Iteris’ ClearPath Weather to provide pavement and weather forecasting services for improved winter road maintenance response in Colorado, US.

Iteris will provide access to hyperlocal weather data to support critical road maintenance decisions for Colorado Department of Transportation’s (CDOT) $1.2bn Central 70 Project.

ClearPath Weather is based on Iteris’ Highway Condition Analysis and Prediction System (HiCAPS) and uses proprietary application programming interfaces (APIs) to access weather data.

The cloud-based maintenance decision support system (MDSS) solution includes an easy-to-use interface, and advanced visualisation tools and mapping.

It offers state and local agency maintenance managers access to real-time information, such as looping radar, weather forecasts, satellite imagery and pavement conditions.

“We now have access to advanced weather and pavement data and analysis to address weather impact on this corridor.”

Roy Jorgensen Associates vice-president Sara Henningsgaard said: “We are excited to work in partnership with CDOT on the Central 70 Project, implementing a robust operation and maintenance programme to facilitate travelling public safety within the Denver metro region.

“By partnering with Iteris and using ClearPath Weather as part of our MDSS operations, we now have access to advanced weather and pavement data and analysis to address weather impact on this corridor.”

Data insights from ClearPath Weather aims to enable Roy Jorgensen’s engineers to make the best road maintenance decisions.

It will also enable Roy Jorgensen to access high-resolution pavement weather forecasting and treatment options, and MDSS services, during the reconstruction of important snow plow routes on I-70 in Denver.

Iteris will also offer Roy Jorgensen constant access to ClearPath Weather’s severe weather advisories and alerting services.

The technology vendor will combine automated vehicle location (AVL) and maintenance data collection (MDC) to help improve real-time recommendations. This data will be gathered on all winter maintenance vehicles deployed by Roy Jorgensen Associates.
