The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) in Dubai, UAE, has awarded a contract to upgrade the Al Qudra-Jebel Ali Lehbab Roads Junction.

Once completed, the project will ensure smooth traffic flow on both Al Qudra Road and Jebel Ali Lehbab Road. It will also offer a passage for traffic to Jebel Ali Free Zone (JAFZA) and Abu Dhabi that bypasses downtown areas.

The project will also allow motorists to get to Al Khail Road and the Interchange of the Arabian Ranches on Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road.

“The Al Qudra Road widening is one of RTA’s strategic projects that provides a key traffic corridor from Jumeirah to Umm Suqeim Street.”

RTA director-general and board of executive directors chairman Mattar Al Tayer said: “Al Qudra-Jebel Ali Lehbab Roads Junction will be upgraded to a multi-tier flyover providing free traffic movement in all directions.”

“The project encompasses the construction of two additional bridges and ramps to serve right-turn and U-turn movements. It also includes the widening of connecting streets, and a cycling bridge in addition to lighting works, rainwater drainage systems, and utility lines works.”

The Al Qudra Road widening is one of RTA’s strategic projects that provides a key traffic corridor from Jumeirah to Umm Suqeim Street.

It has been upgraded with the construction of two bridges with three lanes in each direction.

Improvements have been carried out in several phases, with the initial phase covering the widening of the road over a 12km stretch from the intersection of Jebel Ali-Lehbab to Bab Al Shams R/A.

In later phases, improvements included the widening of the two bridges and the construction of vehicle crossings.

Additionally, a lane, gate, and parking stands for cyclists were also provided.

So far, the RTA has concluded ten projects relating to the improvement of Jebel Ali-Lehbab Road over a 55km-long section extending from Lehbab Police Station to Sheikh Zayed Road.
