The San Francisco Bay Area Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC) in the US has extended its traveller information services solution contract with Iteris.

As agreed, the agency will use the solution to power the San Francisco (SF) Bay Area’s 511 traveller information system for two additional years. The contract extension is valued at $5.4m.

Iteris has been powering the 511 SF Bay traveller information system since 2015.

The company will also provide regional transit data integration, software support and technical services for MTC’s 511 Operations Center.

These services will help MTC’s 511 service to maintain its functionality and reduce road congestion across the region.

Iteris Transportation Systems vice-president and assistant general manager Scott Carlson said: “Iteris is excited to extend our partnership with the San Francisco Bay Area MTC by continuing to operate key services of the region’s 511 traveller information system.

“We are committed to ensuring the San Francisco Bay Area travellers and public transit riders, who make 1.5 million daily trips, are able to access accurate, real-time travel information that improves their mobility across the nine-county region.”

Headquartered in California, Iteris provides smart mobility infrastructure management solutions to ensure safe and efficient road transportation.

Last month, OC 405 Partners decided to upgrade the Iteris’ ClearGuide solution.

OC 405 Partners is a joint venture that is delivering the $1.9bn I-405 Improvement Project in southern California.
