The Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT) has deployed SADA Systems’ interactive project coordination and planning application, dotMaps in order to improve visibility into city construction projects.

By deploying the dotMaps application SDOT was able to coordinate with all open and planned projects in real time, as well as minimise traffic in the city.

SDOT director Scott Kubly said: “Within a short timeframe, dotMaps has improved communication across agencies regarding construction projects, and serves as a valuable mechanism to minimise the effects of road work on the public.

“dotMaps is helping managers work together better, and that’s really important because we can decrease the disruption on our roads, while at the same time-saving taxpayer dollars.”

“We’re thrilled to see that dotMaps is helping reduce the negative impacts of road work and helping various SDOT stakeholders work in tangent.”

SDOT project managers, as well as affiliated utilities, now have a visual representation of all construction projects overlaid on a city map.

The transport authority has further noted that it has selected SADA’s dotMaps after it was efficiently used by the City of Chicago.

SADA Systems CEO and president Tony Safoian said: “We’re thrilled to see that dotMaps is helping reduce the negative impacts of road work and helping various SDOT stakeholders work in tangent.

“It’s clear that cities and other government agencies can be huge beneficiaries of fast, intelligent and interactive mapping and planning solutions.
