Swedish company Sensys Gatso Group has secured a contract for upgrading traffic safety services and systems to the Victorian Government in Australia through its subsidiary Sensys Gatso Australia.

The A$3.9m ($2.8m) order includes the supply and installation of new traffic safety systems by upgrading existing camera system sites to new technology.

Services are expected to be completed by the end of December next year.

Sensys Gatso has been working with the Victorian Government in order to improve road safety in the region.

“This project supports the road safety strategy by helping produce a general deterrence from speeding for users across the entire road network via an ‘anywhere, anytime’ operational model.”

The latest project will help the government to ensure safety at various intersections across the state and reduce the number of injuries and fatalities on the road.

Sensys Gatso Australia has also received A$1.8m ($1.32m) contract from the Victorian Government for supplying in-vehicle based traffic safety systems and services.

This order is for an initial quantity of mobile camera systems that will be used to upgrade the existing camera systems with new technology, which is expected to be completed early next year.

As part of the agreement, Victoria will purchase additional mobile camera systems, which may lead to future orders amounting up to Skr70m ($7.89m) over the next six years.

Sensys Gatso Australia managing director Enzo Dri said: “We are proud of the collaborative relationship with our client and have partnered with them to improve road safety for many years.

“This project supports the road safety strategy by helping produce a general deterrence from speeding for users across the entire road network via an ‘anywhere, anytime’ operational model deployed in thousands of locations across the state of Victoria.”
