Canadian construction company SNC-Lavalin has secured a four-year framework contract from Highways England in the UK.

Highways England awarded the contract to the Canadian firm under its Concrete Road Program to deliver the reconstruction of concrete pavements in the region.

Under the contract, SNC-Lavalin’s engineering, design and project management (EDPM) team will be applying digital solutions and BIM technology, and will also use advanced techniques such as rapid cure bay replacement and next-generation surfacing techniques.

SNC-Lavalin EDPM president Philip Hoare said: “By using innovative digital assessments to measure the technical and customer benefits of concrete surface treatments, we will continue to meet the needs of road users.

“Drawing on our collective experience of maximising re-use and recycling of materials, we look forward to working closely with Highways England and others to provide innovative transport and infrastructure solutions that are at the heart of our EDPM business and are a key area of our growth.”

For the reconstruction and lifecycle extension work, the EDPM business will be providing design, technical assurance site supervision, and project management services.

In addition, it will provide technical assurance for 51 projects, which will cover 1,425 lane kilometers of concrete pavements across England.

Last November, SNC-Lavalin secured a $38m contract from the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) to provide traffic operation management services to its transportation systems management and operations unit.
