Sterling Construction Company’s subsidiary Texas Sterling Construction (TSC) has received a $60.2m contract to rehabilitate and widen a section Interstate 10 in Boerne in the US state of Texas.

Awarded by the Texas Department of Transportation, the project comprises 6.2 miles of new asphalt pavement and building bridge structures at South Main Street and West Bandera Road.

It also involves associated drainage, electrical and signage work along Interstate 10.

“This stretch of Interstate 10 near Boerne, Texas, is known for traffic congestion, so our efforts in improving ramp and frontage road traffic will help alleviate this problem going forward.”

This project will see more than 140,000 cubic yards of excavation and around 230,000 cubic yards of embankment for the walls and bridges.

It will also involve more than 220,000t of asphalt paving.

Construction works are scheduled to begin in early June this year and expected to be completed within 30 months.

Sterling is involved in heavy civil construction and other residential concrete projects in various US states, including Arizona, California, Colorado, Nevada, Texas and Utah.

Under heavy civil construction projects, the company builds highways, roads, bridges, airfields, ports, wastewater and storm drainage systems, light rail etc.
