RLW and SEMA win I-25 Colorado highway contract

Ralph L Wadsworth (RLW) and SEMA Construction have secured a contract to design and reconstruct a section of Interstate 25 (I-25) in the Weld and Larimer counties of Colorado, US.

Under the contract, awarded by the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT), the joint venture (JV) partners will be responsible for widening the portion of I-25 between SH-66 and the SH-402 Interchange.

Work is likely to start in mid-2019, once the design has been finalised and the construction manager / general contractor (CMGC) contract is selected.

Sterling Construction Company’s subsidiary RLW and SEMA will be responsible for widening the highway from two lanes in each direction to accommodate two more general purpose lanes and an express lane both ways.

The contract also includes reconstructing all interchanges within the project limits, including replacing existing bridges.

In August 2016, RLW won a $21.5m contract from CDOT to reconstruct the Crossroads Bridge on I-25 in Larimer County, Colorado.
