telent signs traffic signalling contract for Oxfordshire, UK

UK-based company telent Technology Services has secured a contract to maintain Oxfordshire County Council’s traffic signals network.

Under the contract, telent will be responsible for the supply, installation, and maintenance of traffic signalling equipment and will also provide multiple on-street intelligent transport systems (ITS) equipment across the county.

The five-year contract includes an option of a further three-year extension.

telent traffic business development director Nigel Weldon said: “This new win is a great achievement for telent as the incumbent contractor had held the contract for a number of years.

“We’re excited and looking forward to working closely with Oxfordshire County Council to secure the consistent smooth running and improvement of their road networks in this prestigious region.”

In February this year, the company met with Oxfordshire County Council to discuss rapid mobilisation of the contract. The plans involve taking over the necessary works are already in-place.

telent transport managing director Steve Dalton said: “Our extensive experience in delivering responsive traffic signal maintenance will enable us to work with Oxfordshire to improve traffic flows, reduce congestion, journey times, and pollution levels throughout the county.”

Last month, telent secured a four-year contract from Stoke-on-Trent City Council to provide and maintain traffic signal and associated ITS equipment.

The company secured the contract following a competitive bidding process and will supply its own traffic signal equipment, as well as train the Stoke-on-Trent traffic signal engineers.

telent clients include Highways England, Transport for London, Kent County Council, West Sussex County Council, Gloucestershire County Council, and Network Rail.
