TomTom has introduced an iPhone navigation app that is compatible with Apple CarPlay.

TomTom GO Navigation will also enable drivers to use the app on an in-dash screen.

TomTom said that the GO Navigation app will allow drivers to use the real-time services of online navigation without draining data because the maps are stored on the driver’s phone.

The app has been designed to make it easier for drivers to select the correct exit on a highway or navigate a junction with moving lane guidance, the company added.

The GO Navigation app features offline maps, which can update map attributes such as speed limits and roadworks on a weekly basis.

In addition, TomTom enables drivers to add and delete map regions based on their personal driving needs.

The technology allows users to download the map on a country or regional level based on individual requirements, limiting the use of phone memory.

Furthermore, TomTom GO Navigation offers TomTom Online Search and Routing service and TomTom Traffic, as well as TomTom Speed Cameras.

TomTom Consumer managing director Mike Schoofs said: “TomTom’s focus has always been to get drivers to their destination as efficiently and safely as possible, helping to reduce congestion and emissions in the process.

“With the launch of this premium app, we demonstrate our ability to innovate and bring expert road guidance, including TomTom Traffic and Speed Cameras powered by millions of drivers, to our community.”

Currently, TomTom GO Navigation app is available in the App store. It will be made released on Android later this year.
