HERE launches Traffic Dashboard to visualise congestion levels

Dutch mapping and location data provider HERE Technologies has rolled out the HERE Traffic Dashboard to track traffic and gain intelligent insights about congestion and incidents.

The new interactive online tool has been designed to precisely envisage real-time and anticipated congestion levels during the day in more than 180 cities worldwide.

The HERE Traffic Dashboard also displays urban mobility by showing how far commuters can travel from a city’s centre within 5, 10, 15 or 20 minutes based on traffic conditions at a specific time during the day.

In addition to helping travellers and drivers choose the best time to travel, the tool enables traffic managers and transport authorities to influence traffic movement through their city.

“With the HERE Traffic Dashboard we provide insights into the vast amount of traffic information, from real-time to historical traffic data to sophisticated traffic analytics, that we can provide drivers, cities and businesses for more informed decision making.”

HERE gathers billions of GPS probes daily and uses more than 100 different incident sources for its traffic services.

Additionally, the company uses live vehicle sensor data from multiple car brands that helps it offer accurate and more precise information about current traffic conditions.

The company’s traffic experts continuously monitor incidents and construction.

Upon gathering the data, HERE processes them through the HERE Open Location Platform and continuously updates the data every 60 seconds.
