The World Bank has approved $400m in funding for roads and safety projects in Ukraine to ensure the safety of the country’s main road network.

The project will be carried out by State Road Administration of Ukraine, Ukravtodor, and cover 120km of the Kyiv-Kharkiv-Doyzhansky road (M-03) that connects Russia and other Commonwealth of Independent States to the European market.

World Bank country director for Ukraine Martin Raiser said the project will help Ukraine through its economic crisis by creating jobs and civil works and helping Ukraine’s transport network.

The project includes rehabilitation and road widening, with all safety measures to meet the international standards; a road safety improvement programme and capacity building initiatives.
