A road construction package worth almost $800m has been unveiled by the Philippines Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation (MPTC), to boost the government’s national development programme for better road networks.

The projects include development works on MacArthur Highway in Valenzuela City, the NLEX-SLEX Connector Road Expressway and Skyway Stage 2.

MPTC Chairman Manuel V Pangilinan said MPTC intends to fast track construction of these toll-road projects he says will bring substantial savings in travel time, fuel and vehicle operating costs.

“This development will provide an essentially important link in decongesting the heavy traffic in EDSA (highway) that will help travellers save on fuel costs and travel time,” Pangilinan said.
