A traffic simulator has been installed at Florida International University for students pursuing transportation careers.

This new $150,000 Integrated Intelligent Transportation System Laboratory, is similar to original traffic control centre. This facility will receive the same real-time images of vehicles along expressways on its small screen.

This system will help the students to learn model traffic management techniques and develop projects aimed at solving congestion.

The traffic research facility will support the specific projects in collaboration with the Florida Department of Transportation and local transportation agencies, the Miami Herald reported.

Miami District Six chief of Florida Department of Transportation, Gus Pego said, “Our operators can come here in an emergency and use their facility.”
