The Victorian Government in Australia will fund $39.8m for the final stage of the Bass Highway upgrade project.

The work will include construction of a road to connect Bass Highway to Phillip Island Road, separating traffic headed for Phillip Island from Wonthaggi-bound drivers.

The sixth stage works from King Road to Woolmer Road will be completed by 2010. It is also expected that the fifth stage of project will be completed in next few weeks.

A $132m Bass Highway final stage improvement will begin in 2010 and is expected to be completed in 2013.

Upgrade of Bass Highway from Lang Lang to Anderson is a part of the Government’s $5bn Linking Victoria programme.
