A comprehensive development agreement has been put together by the US Texas Department of Transportation and NTE Mobility Partners to design and construct $2bn of road infrastructure.

The plan is aimed at improving roads in the Fort Worth area to cut congestion, improve air quality and provide speedier access to Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport.

The project work will be carried out on 13 miles of Northeast Loop Interstate 820 and SH 121/183 airport freeway from Interstate 35W to the SH 121 split in Tarrant County.

The state investment towards the project is $570m will provide needed infrastructure to the Fort Worth area, as well as operations and maintenance over the next 52 years, valued at $450m.

Texas Legislative Budget Board and the Texas Attorney General’s Office reassessed and approved the contract before the execution of the agreement.
