Oman’s Transport and Communications Minister has signed 17 contracts worth an estimated $220.3m to develop the country’s transport infrastructure.

The contracts include a $59.6m project to construct a 20km road between Arjout and Sarfait in the Dhofar governorate in Oman.

Work on the road will be carried out by the Desert Line Projects Company, Arabian business.com reports.

The contract also includes a $59.3m dual carriageway from the Al Zaroub roundabout to The Al Buraimi hospital roundabout.

The 17km dual carriageway contract with D Sterling Patco includes construction of a ring flyover, two ring bridges, four tunnels, a service road and lighting works.

In addition, the agreement also includes construction of a 27km road between Hajaf, Jahnir and Asir, design of 180km Southern Al Batinah Express Road, construction of an 18.6km Al Turath district road in Ghubrat Nizwa and other development works.
