The European Investment Bank (EIB) will fund €1bn to construct a 106km section of Poland’s A2 motorway connecting the towns of Swiecko and Nowy Tomysl.

The money will fund 62.5% of the total cost and the work will be implemented by construction company Autostrada Wielkopolska S.A.

The new section is a part of a Trans-European Transport Network to connect the capital cities of Germany and Poland.

The project will complete a 358km-motorway section on Poland’s main East-West transport axis, connecting many major Polish cities including Poznan, Lodz and Konin.
