The UK Government has funded an additional £45m for road repair and safety projects in Manchester.

The project includes road safety-based repair works and development of local roads in the regions including Oldham and Rochdale, thereby reducing the disturbances and delays.

Out of total earmarked amount, the government will fund £33.43m immediately and the local authorities will jointly contribute £4.5m, while the government will fund a further £7.09m when all necessary consents are received.

The above funds will be added to £254m, which was allocated to road maintenance of the North West region for the next two years.
