Construction firm Skanska has secured a contract to build a portion of a ring road around Poznan city in Poland.

Skanska’s share of the overall contract value is PLN 367m which will be covered in third quarter order bookings. A consortium is managing the entire project in which Skanska has an 80% share of the total contract that amounts to PLN 459m.

The assignment envisages a 14km extension of the S11 highway located west of Poznan. Project work comprises four traffic interchanges, 12 flyovers, two pedestrian and bicycle bridges, one bridge and 12km of local access roads.

The new highway will pass through traffic in Poznan and will link to the S5 and A2 highways.

Work on the project will commence on August 2009 and is scheduled for completion by the end of 2011.
