The UK Government has given the green light to the transportation proposals made by Yorkshire and the Humber counties.

According to the proposal an extra £98.8m will be sanctioned for the Leeds New Generation Transport (NGT) project.

The NGT aims to provide commuters with frequent, modern and comfortable vehicles to travel into the city centre from Park and Ride sites on the outskirts of Leeds.

With this aid, the total funding for NGT will reach nearly £250m.

The government also agreed to provide an additional four vehicles for Sheffield Supertram to help reduce traffic during peak hours.

The proposal also allocates £27m for the widening of White Rose Way in Doncasterto improve access into the city and reduce congestion on the M18.
