The town of Wittering in the UK has planned to invest £7.5m for the construction of a junction to improve road safety.

The new junction will be built on the A1dual carriageway at Wittering, which is used by nearly 50,000 vehicles daily.

On completion, the junction will enable southbound traffic to proceed towards Burghley Avenue in Wittering through a bridge over the A1, while northbound traffic will use the Townsend Road.

Currently the traffic from the A1 to Wittering is facilitated by a single-level junction.

The traffic heading south from Wittering is now heading north before turning at the new Carpenter’s Lodge junction near Stamford as there is no right turn facility from Wittering onto the A1.
