A key online traffic information service ‘AA Traffic’ has been made available in New Zealand by the New Zealand Automobile Association to provide traffic updates to motorists.

Data from the New Zealand Transport Agency, NZ Police, local authorities, Auckland and Christchurch airports, and from AA members reporting incidents will be used by AA Traffic to provide real-time traffic information.

AA spokesperson Phil Allen said that motorists will initially be able to access information on state highway and local road conditions, as well as domestic and international airport timetables.

“In the near future, drivers will be able to use information updated from sources such as fleet vehicles, additional airports, ferry timetables, all local authorities, civil defence and bus information,” Allen said.

The AA has developed the service using Geosmart, a company owned by the AA and a leading supplier of in-car navigation, fleet management, web mapping, route optimisation and cartography solutions.
