The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDot) in the US has awarded a $42m contract to construction firm James D Morrissey for the northern section of its ongoing $200m Route 202 bypass project.

The company will build a 3.4 mile section between Pickertown Road and Route 611 in Warrington and Doylestown.

The road will consist of four travel lanes between Routes 63 and 463 and two lanes between Routes 463 and 611.

The overall Route 202 bypass project involves building a 8.6 mile road between Route 63 in Montgomery County and Route 611 in Bucks.

Work on the project’s 1.8 mile southern section has already started and tenders will be called for the central section early September.

The overall project being funded by the state government is expected to complete by 2011.
