Manila North Tollways (MNTC) in the Philippines is planning two new tollway projects totalling P10bn (approximately $207m), as part of phase 2 of the ongoing Manila North Expressway project.

Under the plan, the first 3.85km, six-lane tollway, called segment 9, will link the North Luzon Expressway (NLEx) to MacArthur Highway.

The second 5.85km, four-lane tollway, called segment ten, will link MacArthur Highway to Letre in Malabon.

The tollway would cut travel time between MacArthur Highway and the port area by nearly an hour.

The plan is pending the MNTC board’s approval.

The total 22km phase 2, also called C-5 loop, has two more segments along with segments 9 and 10 – the 2.27km six-lane Mindanao Avenue-NLEx 8.1 segment and the 10.3km six-lane CP Garcia Avenue-Mindanao Avenue 8.2 segment.

Phase 1 of the Manila North Expressway project is already under operation.
