Work has begun on the 1,358m long Admiralty Way-Alexander Road (Lekki-Ikoyi) Link Bridge in the Nigerian port of Lagos.

The bridge, to be completed in three phases, will link Lekki Phase I to Ikoyi and across the lagoon.

Once completed, the bridge would considerably reduce congestion on the road from the Lekki-Ajah end to Victoria Island, Ikoyi, Lagos Island and the Mainland.

The bridge will also reduce travel time along the Falomo Bridge, Alfred Rewane Road, Independence Bridge and Ahmadu Bello Way.

The initial work involving foundation of prier and bitumen-driven steel pile casings and concrete pile cab has been completed.

The bridge is part of the Lagos State Government’s plan to improve road infrastructure providing a better link to metropolis and cut time wasted due to bad traffic.
