The Canadian province of Ontario is undertaking a $23m road and bridge construction project along a 5.6km stretch of Highway 7.

Work includes $13.9m expansion of the highway from two to five lanes from Drummond Line to Highway 28 east of Peterborough. The work is being carried out by Cruickshank Construction and is expected to be completed in fall 2010.

Other work includes $9m to repair and widen the Scugog River Bridge in the City of Kawartha Lakes by Aecon Construction and Materials, which is due for completion in June 2011.

The project is being funded through a government grant of $32.5bn for infrastructure improvements, including $5.6bn for highways.
