The New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) has awarded North American firm International Road Dynamics (IRD) a long-term data collection contract for five of its sites.

The contract includes four different types of traffic data collection sites, namely the continuous count, Automatic Vehicle Classification (AVC), Weigh-in-Motion (WIM) and permanent short count sites.

The CDN $1.5m contract runs for a minimum of two years and up to five years. The state has an option to renew the contract annually.

The company will upgrade, repair, operate and maintain the data collection sites as well as install new sites.

The sites include New York City, Nassau, Suffolk, Rockland, and Westchester Counties.
