India will tender three big road projects by the end of the year, totaling Rs14,500 crore (approximately $3bn), the Union Road Transport and Highways Minister has announced.

The plan includes three projects each consisting of 500km of road worth $1bn each.

The plan is part of the government’s intention to invest Rs1 lakh crore (approximately $20.5bn) in 2009-10 to build a 11,000km road network.

No further details on the projects have yet been revealed.
