The Czech Republic has awarded a CZK950m (€37.2m) contract to Austrian group Kapsch subsidiary Kapsch Telematic Services to supply, install and operate 30 variable traffic information signs.

The order includes four signs for the D1 motorway, including eight signs for the D2 motorway and 18 signs for the D5 motorway.

The signs will be part of the Kapsch-supplied traffic information system, which collects traffic data along with the electronic toll system and sends it to the National Traffic and CzechTrade Information Centre.

The signs will be used to send traffic data to drivers on the motorways from the Centre after analysis.

The company will install four of the signs this year and the remaining 26 by mid-2010.
