The Finnish Road Administration has awarded three road maintenance contracts totalling SEK467m (approximately $68m) to Sweden-based NCC.

The contracts include a five-year SEK110m contract for 1,050-road network in Joensuu, a seven-year SEK165m for 1,150km of roads in the Imatra area and a seven-year SEK192m contract for 1,330km of road in Lappeenranta.

The total road network under the contract covers 530km of highways and 3,000km of other roads, which includes 1,230km of gravel roads.

Work includes ploughing, snow clearing, gritting and minor maintenance work as well as maintenance of gravel roads, green areas, signposts and lay-bys and customs areas on the border to Russia.

The contract will begin in October this year.
