The Ohio Turnpike Commission in the US has announced that the E-Z Pass electronic tolling will begin operating from October this year.

With this, the last electronic tolling gap in the northeastern US toll road network will be closed, allowing users to travel toll roads and bridges across the state from Maine to Virginia and New York to Illinois without paying in cash.

All 239 tollgates on the Turnpike will accept E-Z Pass payment and at most toll plazas there will be at least one ‘E-ZPass-Only’ lane.

Up to two-thirds of the toll lanes at each plaza on the Ohio Turnpike will be dedicated to E-Z Pass users.

The system has undergone testing for over a month.
