Cameroon has inaugurated its $69m (FCFA 31bn) Muea-Kumba highway.

The 63km road connects Kumba to the South West Region’s capital Buea and then onto Cameroon’s economic capital Douala.

The project, which began in March 2007, was carried out by the Sogea-Satom company and funded by the European Union and the Cameroon Government.

The road also links part of the access way to Nigeria and is expected to improve Cameroon’s agricultural product trade with Nigeria.
