China has inaugurated the $908m Beijing-Chengde Expressway, which is expected to halve travel time between Beijing and the Hebei Province.

The 210km road will allow travellers to reach the country’s capital from Hebei in just two hours and also boost tourism by making the area more accessible.

Work was carried out by Beijing Capital Highway Development Group.

The highway will form part of the Daqing-Guangzhou Expressway, which stretches from northeast China to south China.
