The National Highway Authority of India is planning to build a $209m (INR1,000 crore) outer ring road in the city of Lucknow.

The project is aimed at reducing congestion by providing an alternative route for commercial vehicles to bypass the city.

The ring road would connect to Nawabganj on Lucknow-Kanpur Road, Mohanlalganj on the Rae Bareli Road, Barabanki on the Faizabad Road and Sidhauli on the Sitapur Road.

The length of the road is estimated to be 155-165km and construction is expected to finish in four years.

The plan will be finalised on the basis of the eight-month feasibility study to be conducted by ES Consulting Engineering Services.

The project will be carried out under a public-private partnership under phase VII of the National Highways Development Program.
