The Transjamaican Highway in Jamaica is headed for expansion and upgrade work with the help of a $70 million cash injection by The Inter-American Development Bank.

The loan will be handed to Transjamaican Highway Limited, the toll road concessionaire of the project.

The project involves expanding the existing highway by 17km from Sandy Bay to Four Paths.

The loan will also be used to refinance the highway company’s existing debts.

The Transjamaican Highway is a network of motorways connecting Jamaica’s capital Kingston with the western suburbs and central regions of the island.
