US Video surveillance company Optelecom-NKF has won a contract to design and deploy a traffic monitoring and automatic incident detection system in Spain.

The system will be deployed in the 949m long El Fresno Tunnel, located along the A-63 highway in the Principality of Asturias, Northern Spain.

The traffic system will include equipping the tunnel’s local IP/Ethernet network system with eighteen Siqura TrafficServers, multiple Siqura dome cameras and twenty-two fixed cameras spanning the interior of the tunnel to stream real-time video to a central control room.

The TrafficServer provides incident detection, traffic data collection, camera monitoring in a single, temperature-hardened module and real-time data and image information for traffic control and accurate incident detection.

The company will work with Spanish firm Indra Sistemas to develop and install the system.
