The UAE has started work on the Sheikh Khalifa Bridge connecting Saadiyat Island with the capital city Abu Dhabi.

The 1.4km-long bridge is expected to serve as the new gateway to Abu Dhabi.

The bridge connects to the new ten-lane 27km expressway linking Port Zayed on the Abu Dhabi mainland to the Shahama District while passing through Saadiyat and Yas islands.

The bridge project, developed by the city’s Tourism Development & Investment, makes up part of Plan Abu Dhabi 2030.
