A consortium led by Indian firm Reliance Infrastructure has won a $128m contract to build the Jaipur-Reengus road in Rajasthan, which is expected to ease traffic congestion in the area.

The 53km road will connect Jaipur to Bikaner via Sikar on National highway 11.

The contract, awarded by the National Highway Authority of India, will be carried out on a build, operate and transfer basis with a concession period of 18 years, including the construction period.

The project is expected to improve traffic along the Jaipur–Reengus–Sikar–Bikaner corridor.

The road is expected to enter service by March 2011.
