Construction work has begun on the Kora-Shaklava-Qandil road project in Iraq.

The 51km road is a key component of the corridor leading to Iran and has been estimated to cost $180m.

Work is being carried out by Turkish firm Yüksel Construction and is expected to finish within 30 months.
