The Los Angeles Department of Public Works has awarded a contract to Emcor group to install electrical systems for the Automated Traffic Surveillance and Control (ATSAC) project in San Pedro, US.

The San Pedro project is one of the 36 geographical phases of the ATSAC project to cover the city of Los Angeles.

The company’s subsidiary Dynalectric will upgrade or replace 64 traffic signal controllers, modify the existing traffic signal poles and gear, and provide wiring at all locations for the project ahead of its scheduled opening in November 2010.

Work includes installing over 18 miles of underground conduits and fibre optic cables as well as 13 video surveillance cameras and loop detectors for auto and bus traffic, video and data communication equipment.

Work also includes installing hardware and integrate software for a citywide computer controlled traffic signal system for the project.
