US firm Image Sensing Systems has supplied New York City with RTMS G4 radar units for mid-block detection at intersections as part of the city’s TOPICS IV project.

The project is an expansion of the city transport department’s strategic programme to improve citywide traffic movement by using a centralised computer control system.

The new radar units will be used for mid-block detection for nearly 200 intersections in four different boroughs of the city.

The units are equipped with an innovative All-in-One concept that requires no cabinet integration for interface and offers coverage of 12 lanes and minimal power requirements.

The unit is available with NTCIP standard communications protocol as well as a Bluetooth option to give technicians drive-up laptop access for setup and control.
