The UK Transport Ministry has initiated a $446m fund to improve road infrastructure in the London Borough of Hounslow.

The funding will be used to carry out repairs and maintenance of nearly 432km of road and 762km of pathway over a 25-year period.

Work includes improving and maintaining cycleways, bridges and street lighting as well as upgrading traffic signals, signs, street nameplates and road markings and winter maintenance.

Work is scheduled to begin in 2012.
