UK firm Elektromotive has partnered with Belgium firm ThePluginCompany to test its electric vehicle (EV) charging technology in Belgium and Luxembourg.

Elektromotive will provide its recharging station Elektrobay and the Belgium firm will install networks for electric vehicle charging stations.

The two companies will launch pilot programmes to install 20 Elektrobay units in the two countries by the end of this year and plan to rollout more units during 2010.

The companies plan to install large volumes of Elektrobays for public and private use in both nations next year.

The first installation of the technology will be done next month at the Brussels headquarters of LeasePlan, a vehicle management and leasing provider.
