The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has approved a $150m loan to China to help set up a bus rapid transit system in Lanzhou, the capital of Gansu Province.

The 13km dedicated bus-only lanes will cover 22 stations and be linked to new city centre.

The loan will also be used to build and upgrade over 33kms of roads, install advanced traffic control and pollution monitoring systems, develop bicycle lanes and bicycle parking facilities and support a study for traffic demand management.

The project is expected to finish by the end of December 2014.
