Six new truck weigh stations have entered operation on Salwa Highway, an international road connecting Qatar and Saudi Arabia.

Each station features four main parts. Mail Line sensors covering all four lanes in one direction of the freeway are installed at the approach to the stations for permanent traffic data collection.

Other features include the weigh enforcement side, which is also equipped with an over-height vehicle detection system to detect over-height violation, the multi platform static scale where overweight violation is verified and the bypass lanes that capture information of trucks that avoided the weigh station.

The stations have been built by Traffic Tech Group, which will also operate the stations for two years, under contract with the Public Works Authority.
