Chile’s Ministry of Public Works has selected Swedish firm Skanska as the preferred bidder to build the Antofagasta Toll Road in northern Chile’s mining district.

The public private partnership project involves building 120km of new lanes, service roads and intersections as well as upgrading nearly 200km of road.

Construction is estimated to cost Skr2.1bn to Skr2.5bn ($300m to $350m).

The contract includes managing the road for 20 years and Skanska Latin America will carry out the design and construction.
