US logistics firm FedEx has partnered with EMBARQ (World Resources Institute Center for Sustainable Transport) to help reduce road congestion and pollution in cities across Mexico.

FedEx will provide $500,000 over two years to EMBARQ for sustainable transportation projects, which will be developed by EMBARQ’s member Center for Sustainable Transport in Mexico (CTS-México).

CTS-México will provide technical support to selected cities to identify, plan and implement projects that could include increasing walking and cycling paths or improving mass transit systems.

Following this, CTS-México will create traffic safety informational toolkits, including a Web-based social networking platform, to share with other cities, universities and organisations.
